Yachtmaster Offshore Certificate 

There is no specific RYA practical course you need to take for this - you just need time on the water. In fact, you need at least 50 days, 2500 miles, and five 60-mile passages; two of these passages must have skippered by you. To attain the Yachtmaster Certificate you will need to take a two-day practical examination which is taken with an independent examiner. The examiner will test your sailing abilities to the full including some "blind" navigation to simulate a fog situation. Therefore, before you take the examination, it is wise to spend a few days practicing on the water directly beforehand. We run a 5-day Yachtmaster Preparation Course, which is an ideal choice.

Areas that are covered by our preparation course includes subjects such as can you brief your crew on safety procedures, can you sail off a pontoon when the engine fails, and can you navigate your yacht home when the fog comes down? If you want to take your Yachtmaster examination and you’re not 100% confident in doing any of these things, then you should consider joining us for a five day Yachtmaster Preparation course. Even if you don't want to take the examination this is an ideal course for brushing up your skills, we target the area you feel needs more time, and we won't stop practicing until you've got the hang of it!
