RYA Start sailing courses are the best way to experience the amazing sport of sailing.
This is the first step up the RYA Ladder to complete further qualifications to get you more confident on a boat.
The Start Yachting qualification can be completed over a weekend or a 5 day course depending on how happy you are with spending time on the boat. You will be with an incredibl
e RYA qualified instructor.
You will start from a complete beginner and by the end of the week you will have experience steering the yacht, sail handling and ropework as well as spent a few nights on board the boat!!!
Starting to sail is one of the most exciting, and life changing, things you can do... Please be aware, once you start you will not want to stop!!!!
The RYA Start Sailing syllabus includes;
- Basic knowledge of sea terms, parts of a boat, her rigging and sails
- Ability to tie knots
- Securing ropes
- Use of gear on board
- Steering a yacht under power and sail
- Keeping an efficient lookout
- Weather forecasts
- Man Overboard drills
- Understands lifejackets, buoyancy aids etc
- And much much more, your RYA instructor will want to teach you as much as you can take in...
- Any questions you ask she will be able to give you an answer.
