Running for 35 years and now one of the premier sailing regattas in the world, Antigua Sailing Week welcomes participants from all corners of the globe each year competing for the chance to win this prestigious race. Six challenging days of racing in some of the best sailing conditions in the world combined with the famous Antiguan hospitality make this a regatta not to miss. A race every day a party every night!
About Antigua
Stunning Antigua! .... Close your eyes and picture 108 miles of exquisite virgin aquamarine coastline and 365 beaches, one for every day of the year. Temperatures range from 80-95 degrees. Trade winds bless the islands keeping the coastline cool and sailors happy!
Other activities
Superb water sports from scuba diving to windsurfing. Cruise and have a BBQ at Green Island. Enjoy Shirley Heights sunset party. Lay Day = a wild affair! Shopping is varied and plentiful - you can pick up a souvenir - Mount Gay Rum.
Outline itinerary
The plan is to spend 4/5 days training, followed by 5/6 days of racing. To give you an idea of what's planned here is the schedule of racing for the 2010 racing division:
Saturday 24 April - Race 1 Windward/Leeward race starting off English Harbour
Sunday 25 April - Race 2 Yachting World Round the Island Race starting and finishing at Falmouth Harbour
Monday 26 April - Races 3 and 4 Two inshore races along the South Coast from Falmouth Harbour
Tuesday 27 April - Race 5 Willoughby Bay Race off the South East Coast
Wednesday 28 April - Lay day
Thursday 29 April - Races 6 and 7 Two inshore races along the South Coast from Falmouth Harbour
Friday 30 April - Race 8 Windward/Leeward race starting off English Harbour
