About the event
Previously known as the Angostura Yachting World Regatta, it might not be the biggest Caribbean race week, but it's certainly the best. Held in mid-February, the event features four days of yacht racing in four classes - racing, cruising, charter and liveaboard. A Regatta Village is set up in the gardens of the Crown Point Beach Resort at Store Bay and there are various organised (and unorganised) parties, games and other events planned all week.
About the Island
Tobago is known as the unspoiled paradise of the Caribbean and is the smaller of the two main islands that make up the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago. It is the last of the unspoilt Caribbean islands - and abounds with natural beauty: palm-lined beaches, lush rain forests and pristine coral reefs. The contrast of rolling hills against wave-beaten shores gives the island an unequalled allure. The windward coast is washed by the dark green, wave-whipped Atlantic and lined with vibrant fishing villages while the leeward coast provides Tobago with some of its finest beaches with crystal clear blue waters. The eastern interior landscape rises steeply into peaks, providing shelter for the oldest protected rainforest reserve in the western hemisphere
Other activities:
Post-racing parties are planned for every night providing an excellent opportunity to swap stories over a few drinks. The fun is non stop and the buzz is really exhilarating! If you plan a few extra days stay then Tobago has an outstanding reputation for surfing, scuba diving, game fishing, sailing and also boasts an 18 hole Championship golf course.
