About the event
The Port Louis Grenada Sailing Festival attracts sailors and racing enthusiasts from around the World. The main events stretch over four days with Girlsforsail offering a full race/train package. 2011 will be the 18th running of the regatta with four days of varied and challenging ocean racing overseen by a team of internationally accredited judges and officials allowing participants to have a real taste of the Caribbean and Caribbean Sailing at its finest. The combination of a yacht racing fleet consisting of more than 30 boats from the UK, USA, Europe and the Caribbean, crews from right around the World, supported by over 250 local sailors on traditional fishing boats ensures that sailing enthusiasts return to this event year after year.
About the Island
Grenada is a rolling, mountainous island, covered with fragrant spice trees and rare tropical flowers. Bordered by stunning beaches, and dotted with picturesque towns, this verdant island has long been a major source of nutmeg, cloves, ginger, cinnamon, and cocoa. In the interior of this volcanic island are cascading rivers and waterfalls, lush rainforests, and one of the most breathtakingly beautiful mountain lakes imaginable. The island is ringed with miles of picture-perfect sands, including the world famous Grand Anse Beach, a smooth expanse stretching for two miles around the curve of a gentle bay.

Post-racing parties are planned for every night providing an excellent opportunity to swap stories over a few drinks. The fun is non stop and the buzz is really exhilarating! If you plan a few extra days stay then their are loads of amazingly beautiful places to swim, snorkel and visit.
