ARC 2009
Thu, 19 November 2009This year's Girlsforsail ARC crew are a fantastic bunch of women who have spent the last 6 months planning and preparing for their voyage of a lifetime. The crew are Kirsty (aka Crusty), Lisa, Vicky and Carolyn and join Skipper Annie and First Mate Liz (our newest recruit and otherwise known as Brains). As part of the preparation they have done amongst other things RYA training, First Aid courses, Safety at Sea, put together a super-dooper hospital approved first aid kit and even learnt how to sew up a wound professionally! And not only are they sailing for the personal challenge (and to see what life without a mobile is like) but also to raise money for cancer research through sales of the hot new Girlsforsail calendar!! www.girlsforsail.com/calendar
By all accounts they are having a ball in the run up to the start of the event on November 22 as there are lots of parties to attend and good restaurants to sample. But of course there will be the important task of provisioning the boat for up to a 3 week journey and making sure everything is ship-shape as we count down the last few days.
Once the race begins on Sunday you will be able to find out how they are getting along at this space and can pinpoint the actual location of their boat, Diamonds are Forever, via Google Earth using the following link.

We wish them all the best!
